Set up like exam day
The full and half exams are best at a desk on a laptop. The quick check is fine on a phone.
- •A calculator from the NCEES-approved list: Casio fx-115 or fx-991, TI-30X or TI-36X, HP 33s or 35s. Any calculator works for practice, but train on the one you will bring.
- •Scratch paper and a pencil. Pearson VUE gives you a reusable booklet; a few sheets are the same thing.
- •The NCEES FS Reference Handbook open in another window. It is the only reference allowed, supplied on screen, and searchable. Download the current version from your MyNCEES account under Common Tasks → Useful Documents → View Reference Handbooks.
- •A quiet block of time. The real appointment is 6 hours: 5 h 20 min of exam plus one scheduled 25-minute break. Pausing here is for practice only.
- •Sign in first if you want the result saved to your account. Signed out, it stays on this device.
- •Before you start, skim the cheat sheet so you know which formulas to look up in the handbook.
